The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and the Union Ministry of Home Affairs have signed an MoU to harness the solar energy on available rooftop spaces at the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and National Security Guard campuses (NSG).

The event was attended by Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Union Home Secretary, and Shri Indu Shekhar Chaturvedi, Secretary, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

The MoU was signed by Shri Rakesh Kumar Singh, Joint Secretary, MHA, and Smt. Suman Sharma, MD, SECI. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Suman Sharma said, “SECI is happy to serve the Government of India for fulfilling India’s climate commitments and look forward to expanding rooftop solar sector to the remotest corners of the country.”

The Memorandum of Understanding is a step forward in providing green power to the country's security services and reaffirms the government's commitment to a sustainable future. The MoU will assist MHA in putting rooftop solar systems in place using the RESCO approach.

Many government RE programs, such as VGF schemes, ISTS schemes, and CPSU schemes, are implemented by SECI.
