SECI Seeks Developers for 1,000 MW Dispatchable Renewable Power in India

The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the chosen developers will span 25 years.

December 02, 2023. By Abha Rustagi

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has initiated the selection process for developers to supply 1,000 MW of firm and dispatchable power from ISTS-connected Renewable Energy (RE) projects in India.

The Tariff-based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) mechanism will determine successful bidders. SECI's Request for Selection (RfS) outlines the requirement for ISTS-connected RE projects to provide 1,000 MW of firm and dispatchable RE (FDRE) power on a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) basis.

The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the chosen developers will span 25 years. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for December 11, 2023, and the deadline for bid submissions is January 9, 2024.

The power procured through SECI's efforts is earmarked for sale to the Punjab State Power Corporation (PSPCL), acting as the purchasing entity. SECI will serve as the intermediary nodal agency for procurement and sale.

Bidders with commissioned or under-construction RE and/or storage projects, holding untied capacity, are eligible to participate and can submit a single bid, offering a capacity ranging from 50 MW to a maximum of 500 MW.
