SECI Invites Tenders for Sea-bed Lease Rights in Offshore Wind Power Projects

Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has released a Notice Inviting Tender (NIT) for the selection of an Offshore Wind Power Developer (OWPD) for allocation of sea-bed lease rights for projects in India.
The tender, titled 'Request for Selection (RfS) for Allocation of Sea-bed Lease Rights for Offshore Wind Power Projects in India,' outlines the scope of work, including survey and development activities, designing, building, financing, commissioning, operating, maintaining, and decommissioning offshore wind power projects off the coast of Tamil Nadu, India.
The tender emphasizes the need for international competitive bidding for the mentioned projects. Additionally, the OWPD will be responsible for the development of the transmission system, offshore substation, and ensuring grid connectivity. Long-term access to the grid is also within the scope of the OWPD.
Furthermore, the generated energy from these offshore wind power projects may be utilized in captive mode or sold to third parties, including on a merchant basis, or traded on the power exchange.
SECI in its tender mentioned that the tender documents have been drafted under Model-2(B) as per the ‘Strategy Paper for Establishment of Offshore Wind Energy Projects’ in India issued by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Government of India, and the same will be issued shortly.
