Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) will establish an ISTS-linked wind power project at a total capacity of 1300 MW in Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana.

Out of the overall capacity of 1300 MW, Telangana state will get 500 MW from Nizamabad, Rangareddy and Medak substations. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu will obtain 300 MW of power in Karur town.

Similarly, 500 MW will be distributed in Neemuch, Mandsaur and Pachora cities of Madhya Pradesh.

To facilitate renewable power to SECI, the program calls on Wind Power Developers (WPDs) to construct wind power projects that are linked to ISTS. These projects will be executed under Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model.

The Request for Selection (RfS) for Tranche XV Wind Power Projects was publicised by SECI.

The bid submission deadline has been set for September 20, 2023 and it will be opened on September 25, 2023.

The successful bidders selected on the basis of this RfS will forge Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SECI for the objective of purchasing wind power for 25 years of tenure.

Presently, Telangana has 128 MW of installed wind power, comprising 100 MW from Pargi windmills and 28 MW from windmills near Zaheerabad on the Hyderabad-Mumbai highway.

It is assessed that more than 200 GW of wind power will be commercially utilised in India.
