Savannah Energy Plans to Develop 200 MW Solar Power Plants in Niger

Savannah Energy Niger Solar Limited has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the government of Niger to develop two solar PV power plants with an integrated installed power generation capacity of 200 MW.
The two proposed solar plants are anticipated to be situated within 20 km of the cities of Maradi and Zinder, in southern Niger with each plant anticipated to have an installed capacity of between 50 and 100 MW.
The two projects are anticipated to get sanctions in the year 2024, with the first power targeted by the tenure from 2025 to 2026.
Savannah plans to fund the two projects from an integration of its own internally produced cashflows and project-specific debt.
The two proposed solar PV power plants would be located in Southern Niger.
The statement is about as the solar projects that are proposed to be connected to the South Central section of Niger’s electricity grid, which is predicted to be interconnected to the Western electricity grid zone (which caters to Niamey) by 2026, as part of a World Bank funded project.
