The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by its energy industry, played a key role in the 26th World Energy Congress held in the Netherlands.

The Congress served as a platform for addressing energy-related topics and discussing the transitions occurring within the energy sector, emphasizing the importance of managing these transitions in a just, fair, and eco-friendly manner.

Saudi Arabia's participation in the Congress highlighted its contributions and role in the global energy landscape. A selected group of specialists and experts showcased several national programs and initiatives aimed at advancing the energy sector.

At the exhibition running alongside the Congress, Saudi Arabia hosted its pavilion under the theme 'Sustainable Energy – Shared Future.' The pavilion highlighted the Kingdom's endeavors as a pivotal energy hub and emphasized its concentrated efforts to contribute to global climate change mitigation efforts.

Of particular note was Saudi Arabia's commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2060, contingent upon the availability and maturity of necessary technologies. This commitment stems from the Kingdom's recognition of the importance of providing sustainable energy to individuals and communities while preserving the future of the planet and its inhabitants.

During the 26th WEC, Saudi Arabia actively participated in discussions on various energy-related topics, including the development of renewable and nuclear energy sectors, improving energy efficiency by 2030, leveraging liquid fuel displacement, and accelerating the implementation of carbon emission reduction and removal technologies such as carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) and low-carbon hydrogen production.

Looking ahead, Saudi Arabia, represented by the Ministry of Energy, will host the 27th World Energy Congress from October 26 to 29, 2026, in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
