Sabarmati Transit Hub Achieves Green Milestone with 700 kWp Solar Plant in RESCO Mode

The project is executed by the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL).

The Sabarmati Multi-Modal Transit Hub in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has successfully installed a 700 kWp Solar Power Plant under the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) mode.

The multi-modal transit building is strategically designed to offer seamless connectivity, linking various modes of transportation such as the railway station, metro, Bus Rapid Transit, and road transport with the High-Speed Rail system. The project is executed by the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL).

A noteworthy achievement for the NHSRCL is securing approval for Net-Metering in RESCO mode, making it the first entity in Gujarat to receive registration from the Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA).

The adoption of the RESCO mode has not only demonstrated environmental consciousness but also led to substantial savings in Capital Expenditure, amounting to INR 2.73 crores. This cost-effectiveness highlights the economic benefits of harnessing solar power for large-scale infrastructure projects.

The 700 kWp solar plant is anticipated to generate approximately 10 lakh units of Green Energy annually, contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions.

Implemented under the RESCO Mode, the Solar Photovoltaic (PV) project has been contracted at a rate of INR 3.9 per unit for the next 25 years. This rate stands significantly lower than the current DISCOM rate of approximately Rs 11 per unit, emphasizing the economic viability and long-term advantages of embracing renewable energy solutions.
