Rooftop Solar Applications before Feb 13 Ineligible for CFA Under New PM Surya Ghar Scheme
Under the updated program unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, households applying after February 13, 2024, can avail a subsidy of INR 30,000/kW for residential rooftop solar systems up to 2 kW.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has announced that residential rooftop solar applications submitted before February 13, 2024, will not qualify for central financial assistance (CFA) under the new PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana which was launched with an outlay of INR 75,000 crores.
Under the updated program unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, households applying after February 13, 2024, can avail a subsidy of INR 30,000/kW for residential rooftop solar systems up to 2 kW.
For systems between 2 kW and 3 kW, an additional subsidy of INR 18,000/kW will be provided. The projects exceeding 3 kW will receive a capped subsidy of up to INR 78,000, depending on the household's average monthly power consumption.
The ministry clarified that all applications submitted earlier will still receive CFA under the subsidy structure notified on January 5, 2024, according to which CFA for systems between 1 kW to 3 kW ranges from INR 18,000 to INR 20,000/kW, depending on the state category.
