RInfra CEO awarded Leading Energy Personality of the Year

Reliance Infrastructure Ltd. (RInfra), part of the Reliance Group, today announced that its CEO, Mr Lalit Jalan has received the prestigious “Leading Energy Personality Award” from the Council of Power Utilities for his outstanding contribution to the energy sector. Mr Jalan received the award at the 6th India Power Awards 2013 function, held in Hyderabad. This award recognizes the contributions made by individuals and organizations towards the Energy Sector, on a National and International basis.

Within a decade, Mr. Jalan transformed a distribution company (Reliance Energy) to India’s largest Utility and Infrastructure Company having presence in Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Trading, EPC, Roads, Metro rail, Cement etc. He is credited with reducing power losses in Delhi distribution from 55% to 4-5%. Receiving the award, Mr. Lait Jalan, CEO Reliance Infrastructure said, “It’s a great honour and privilege to receive this award, especially when judged among many worthy peers. I’m proud of RInfra’s performance and the terrific returns we’ve provided our shareowners. We’ve transformed RInfra into a leading infrastructure and utility company, led by common initiatives, behaviours, and processes. Mr. Jalan has earlier been awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from IIT, Kanpur. In 2009, he featured in the Economic Times elite list of India’s 100 Most Powerful CEOs. Council of Power Utilities awards are considered extremely prestigious and are conferred to the leading personalities and achievers in energy sector. The council has been engaged in providing a platform to individuals and organizations of the Energy Sector to deliberate on issues concerning the same.
