The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has recently clarified that residential rooftop solar(RTS) systems with battery storage systems are also eligible for CFA under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG: MBY) scheme.
It further clarified that hybrid inverters can also be installed, as per provisions of the regulations issued by respective state/UT electricity regulatory commission, for RTS plants under PMSG: MBY.
The operational guidelines issued earlier mentioned that after the vendor has completed the installations, customers need to upload all relevant documents including geo-tagged photographs on the portal.
However, some of the DISCOMs are still insisting on photographs of the RTS plant with consumers standing by the side of the plant. “In this regard, it is again clarified that this clause doesn't mandate the presence of the consumer with the installed RTS plant in the photographs which are to be uploaded on the National Portal after installation. Only the geotagged photographs of the RTS plant are to be uploaded on the National Portal,” added the MNRE notification.
The ministry has also allowed residential consumers to install rooftop solar with higher-capacity inverters, allowing future PV capacity expansion without changing the inverter, as per regulations.
“DISCOMs are requested to allow installation of a solar inverter of capacity up to the sanctioned connected load or up to a capacity allowed under the respective regulations for the installation of RTS plant, even with lower capacity of solar PV modules presently being installed by the residential consumers,” mentioned the notification.
