RECPDCL, a subsidiary of REC Limited, recently facilitated the transfer of project-specific Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) for Inter State Transmission Projects (ISTS) through a tariff-based competitive bidding process. The handover saw the successful bidders receiving the SPVs in the presence of key officials from various organizations.
M/s Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), M/s Indigrid 2 Limited and Indigrid 1 Limited (Consortium), and M/s Apraava Energy Private Limited emerged as the winning bidders for the ISTS Transmission Projects under the Ministry of Power, Government of India. RECPDCL served as the Bid Process Coordinator for the initiative.
The event, attended by CEO Rajesh Kumar and senior officials from RECPDCL, REC Limited, PGCIL, Central Electricity Authority (CEA), and CTUIL, marked a significant milestone in the renewable power sector. Rajesh Kumar highlighted the dedication of RECPDCL towards supporting renewable power reforms to meet the country's electricity demands, in alignment with the directives of Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy, R.K. Singh, and Power Secretary, Pankaj Agarwal.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajesh Kumar emphasized the importance of Tariff-based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) in developing transmission systems for renewable energy evacuation. “In line with the visionary directions of Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy, R.K. Singh and Power Secretary, Pankaj Agarwal, RECPDCL is putting in all possible efforts to ensure the growth of renewable power reforms to cater to the electricity demand of the country. Tariff-based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) for the development of transmission system for evacuation of renewable energy is one such noble mission and RECPDCL is privileged to be a Bid Process Coordinator for award of projects through the TBCB route,” he said.
Additionally, RECPDCL awarded Letters of Award (LOAs) to successful bidders, M/s Avaada Energy Private Limited and M/s Juniper Green Energy Private Limited, for the establishment of 100 MW wind power projects under the Ministry of Power's 'Scheme for flexibility in Generation and Scheduling of Thermal / Hydro Power Stations through bundling with Renewable Energy and Storage Power.'
REC Limited, the parent organization of RECPDCL, has been a pivotal entity in power sector financing and development across India for over fifty years. Offering financial assistance to various projects in the power sector, including generation, transmission, distribution, and renewable energy, REC Limited has recently diversified into non-power infrastructure and logistics sectors.
RECPDCL, on the other hand, has been providing consultancy and project implementation services to over 50 state power distribution companies and power departments. Acting as a Bid Process Coordinator for Tariff Based Competitive Bidding in Transmission Line Projects and RE-Bundling projects, RECPDCL has been instrumental in executing critical infrastructure projects in the UT of J&K and Ladakh under the Prime Minister's Development Package.
