India has set a target of 100 GW of solar module manufacturing, alongside 70 GW of solar cell manufacturing and 40 GW of wafer production by 2030, said Minister of New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi while virtually addressing the gathering at the 2nd edition of REconnect Summit, organised by Energetica India magazine, held  on December 4, 2024 in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

He highlighted the nation’s commitment to creating a robust renewable energy ecosystem under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “India is on an accelerated path to becoming a global leader in renewable energy, with significant strides in solar module manufacturing. Over the last decade, the country's manufacturing capacity has skyrocketed from just 2 GW in 2014 to an impressive 60 GW in 2024,” he said.

The event featured in-depth discussions on critical challenges, including policy-making, technical hurdles, and strategies to push India towards a cleaner, greener, and more self-reliant energy future.
