The award recognizes REC's outstanding CSR initiative of installing a 2 MW rooftop solar plant at IIT Madras, which has significantly contributed to the generation of clean energy and reduction of carbon footprint.
The rooftop solar plant installed by REC at IIT Madras generates approximately 3.15 million units of clean energy annually, demonstrating REC's commitment to sustainable development goals and environmental conservation. The initiative aligns with REC's mission to prioritize projects with a profound societal impact, emphasizing sustainability and national priorities.
Taruna Gupta, Executive Director (CSR), and Thara Ramesh, Chief Program Manager of REC's Regional Office in Chennai, received the award on behalf of REC. The ceremony was graced by Dr. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, Minister for IT and Digital Services of Tamil Nadu, and Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, who commended REC's dedication to sustainable development.
