Ramco Cements Commissions Additional 2 MW Waste Heat Recovery Turbine
The Ramco Cements Ltd. has commissioned an additional 2 MW waste heat recovery turbine at its Alathiyur cement plant, increasing the plant's waste heat power capacity to 4 MW and the company's overall capacity to 45.15 MW.

The Ramco Cements Ltd. has announced the commissioning of a waste heat recovery turbine of additional 2 MW capacity in its Alathiyur cement plant.
“With the commissioning of the above 2 MW turbine, the waste heat power generating capacity of our Alathiyur cement plant has gone up from 2 MW to 4 MW and our company's overall waste heat power generating capacity has gone up from 43.15 MW to 45.15 MW,” the company informed in a regulatory filing.
In its Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report 2024 the company stated that it is investing in renewable energy and enhancing the efficiency of process. “About 45 percent of energy requirement is planned to be utilised from renewable energy by 2030 which will directly reduce the carbon emission,” it noted.
It further added that the company has initiated several measures to reduce the GHG emissions. “The usage of fossil fuels is reduced by adopting waste heat recovery system and wheeling of wind energy. Rooftop solar panels are installed that adds to the share in green energy,” it said.
