In a major policy move to promote equitable and sustainable energy growth, Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd. (JVVNL) has announced a revision in tariffs for Net Metering and Net Billing systems under the RERC Grid-Interactive Distributed Renewable Energy Generating Systems framework.
The new order reflects the government’s continued commitment to encouraging renewable energy adoption and rewarding solar power producers fairly.
According to the latest notification, the tariff for Net Metering has been revised to INR 3.26 per kWh, applicable to all categories of consumers, including domestic users governed by the RERC (Net Metering) Regulations, 2015 and subsequent amendments. The Net Billing tariff has been set at INR 3.65 per kWh and will remain applicable for the entire duration of the agreement period. These revised rates replace all previously issued tariff circulars, including JPR5-1073 (2021), JPR5-1108 (2022), JPR5-1153 (2023), and JPR5-1158 (2024), and will remain effective until further revision.
The decision comes as part of Rajasthan’s broader effort to align solar energy tariffs with market realities while ensuring transparent and fair compensation for energy producers. It underscores the state’s intent to strengthen its position as a leader in distributed solar generation and encourage greater participation from residential, commercial, and industrial consumers.
By implementing these forward-looking changes, JVVNL aims to foster cleaner energy generation, empower consumers, and reinforce Rajasthan’s role in driving India’s renewable energy transition. The revision is expected to make solar energy more attractive, fair, and accessible, setting a progressive precedent for the rest of the country.
