In a significant move to bolster the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in India, Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy, R. K. Singh, unveiled the 'EV-Ready India Dashboard,' a digital platform developed by the thinktank OMI Foundation.

This platform is designed to provide real-time insights into EV adoption and growth trends in the country, as well as real-time information on charging station locations and availability.

The EV-Ready India Dashboard also offers valuable insights into EV sales, charging infrastructure, demand trends, investment climate, market growth forecasts, and emissions reduction.

It aims to drive data-driven decision-making in India's electric mobility transition. The EV-Ready India Dashboard projects a remarkable 45.5 percent Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) in electric vehicle sales between 2022 and 2030, with expectations of a substantial increase from 6,90,550 electric two-wheelers sold in 2022 to a staggering 1,39,36,691 electric two-wheelers expected on Indian roads by 2030.

During the launch event attended by government representatives, industry leaders, and stakeholders, R. K. Singh emphasised the inevitability of electric mobility, stating, "The future is electric. Nobody can stop this."

Singh highlighted the crucial role of electric vehicles in India's pursuit of energy independence, stating, "It is absolutely essential for India to switch to electric mobility."

Singh also addressed challenges hindering EV adoption, including the cost of storage, and revealed government plans to introduce Production Linked Incentives (PLI) to boost battery manufacturing and reduce storage costs.
