PURE EV Achieves Cost Reduction, Plans Solar & ESS Expansion for Net Zero by 2026

PURE EV, India's electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has made significant strides in sustainability and energy efficiency at its facility in Telangana.

The firm said in its statement that by integrating a 500 KWh Energy Storage Solution (ESS) and a 125 KW solar power system with its diesel generator (DG) and grid power, the company has achieved remarkable reductions in operating costs.

This initiative resulted in a 60 percent cut in electricity expenses and a 65 percent reduction in DG fuel costs in FY 2024 compared to the previous fiscal year. Additionally, peak load KVA charges were reduced by 50 percent, further improving operational efficiency.

As part of its long-term sustainability strategy, PURE EV plans to expand its renewable energy infrastructure. By FY 2026, the company aims to add another 125 KW of solar power capacity and an additional 500 KWh ESS. This expansion will accelerate its journey toward achieving net-zero carbon emissions at its manufacturing facilities and offices.

The solar system, in combination with ESS, enables PURE EV to harness renewable energy for its operations, significantly reducing dependence on grid electricity. Notably, the 500 kWh ESS capacity is entirely composed of refurbished batteries, as per the firm in its statement.

It further said that these batteries were repurposed from customers who traded their older models for PURE EV's latest fifth-generation high-performance batteries. This innovative approach underscores the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability and its efforts to foster a circular economy for electric vehicle (EV) batteries.
