Punjab Government Plans to Incentivise INR 300 Crore to Boost Use of EV

The officials for a meeting of the state-level EV committee, which has been established for the implementation of the Electric Vehicle Policy-2023.

Punjab's transport minister Laljit Singh Bhullar announced the state government will incentivise around INR 300 crore in the subsequent three years to boost the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and reduce pollution.

These incentives will be given to EV two-wheelers, e-cycles, e-rickshaws, e-autos and electric light commercial vehicles.

The officials for a meeting of the state-level EV committee, which has been established for the implementation of the Electric Vehicle Policy-2023.

As per an official statement, Bhullar take hold of details of the responsibilities entrusted to multiple departments addressing the implementation of the EV policy and asked officials to ascertain fast implementation.

Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd and Punjab Energy Development Agency officials are to make a report within a month considering the installation of EV charging stations and explore suitable sites.

The minister also instructed officials of the Housing and Urban Department to devise a policy for making provision for EV charging amenities in forthcoming malls and housing societies.
