With an aim to jointly work towards the development of green hydrogen projects in India, state-owned PTC India Ltd has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Norwegian energy company Greenstat ASA’s subsidiary ‘Greenstat Hydrogen India Pvt Ltd’.
Under the MoU, the two organisations will jointly develop green hydrogen solutions for the Indian power market beneficiaries.
As per the signed agreement, the areas of development would include feasibility studies and/ or project management services for the green hydrogen solutions to potential beneficiaries in India.
Besides, both the entities will also work towards identifying opportunities for the development of a Centre of Excellence for the facilitation of green gydrogen in the country.
Commenting on the development, Dr. Rajib Kr. Mishra, CMD, PTC India, said “Green Hydrogen has huge potential to meet the future energy demand sustainably and also support the transition to Net Zero economy. Under this association, PTC and Greenstat would play an important role in adoption of Green Hydrogen in India.”
PTC India is the pioneer in starting a power market in India. It has also been mandated by the Government to trade electricity with Bhutan, Nepal and Bangladesh.
The trading activities undertaken by the company include long-term trading of power generated from large power projects including renewables as well as short-term trading arising as a result of supply and demand mismatches, which inevitably occur in various regions of the country.
