PSPCL Increases RE Capacity with Commissioning of New 50 MW Solar Power Project

Four Solar Power Projects of 4 MW each to be set up within Punjab.

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has sanctioned the Solar Power Project of 50 MW Capacity installed by M/s SAEL Limited at village Karamgarh, Malout, and solar power has started flowing into the 220 KV Grid substation Katorewala, Power Minister Harbhajan Singh, Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO) informed.

Four Solar Power Projects of 4 MW each to be set up within Punjab were allotted to PEDA at a tariff of INR 2.748/kWh. Among them, the 4 MW solar power project in the Bathinda village of Tarkhanwala has also been synchronized with the PSPCL 66 KV Grid substation on Sekhon.

Commenting on the development, Minister Singh said, “with the synchronization of these projects, the cumulative installed capacity of Solar Power projects for the State of Punjab has now reached 2081 MW. He also said that Solar Power projects of 2850 MW are under commissioning. Notably, these 54 MW Solar Power Projects will generate approx. 3 Lakh Units of Green Energy daily and the Solar Power generated by these projects shall be available during the daytime and supplied as agricultural power to farmers in the State.”

The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has made great progress in advancing renewable energy sources and satisfying the state's increasing demand for electricity. The company completed deals with solar power companies in June 2022 to purchase 250 MW of solar power at a competitive price of INR 2.65/kWh.

Minister Singh reaffirmed the government of Punjab's pledge to provide its citizens with affordable, dependable, and high-quality power while also increasing the proportion of clean, green, and low-tariff renewable energy. "These new solar power projects represent a significant step towards our goal of a greener Punjab. We are addressing our power needs and contributing to the national objective of reducing carbon emissions," added the minister.
