Production of ACC Batteries Under PLI to Commence by January 2024, Says Mahendra Nath Pandey

As per the statement of Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Union Minister for Heavy Industries, Government of India, the production of the first batch of advanced chemistry cell (ACC) batteries in India is slated to begin by January 2024.
 
SIAM organised its 63rd SIAM Annual Convention in New Delhi, wherein senior leaders from the Government, policymakers and industrialists deliberated the strategies for the future of Sustainable Mobility.
 
At the 63rd SIAM conclave, Union Minister Dr. Pandey shared this update for the auto industry. The latest production of ACCs, has a retrieval capacity of electric energy as chemical or electrochemical energy and transforms its support to electric energy as required.
 
The minister asserted that in a bid to assist the automobile industry, the government has been formulating various policies like PLI and FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles).

Notably, he remarked that INR 25,938 crore PLI scheme for the auto sector has been received by the industrialists and entrepreneurs. Moreover, after consulting with the industry, the government has extended the duration of the scheme by one year.
 
He emphasised that the government has added two more agencies for testing of vehicles and components — the Global Automotive Research Centre (GARC) in Chennai and National Automotive Test Tracks (NATRAX) in Madhya Pradesh.
 
The Indian Auto industry is accelerating toward sustainable transportation and adopting possibilities of sustainable development throughout several verticals viz. road safety and decarbonization targets.
 
The automobile industry is taking crucial steps to decarbonize the auto sector by welcoming a host of various possible technologies like Ethanol, Flex-fuel, CNG, Bio-CNG, Hybrid Electric, Electric, and Hydrogen.
