Prime Minister Modi Lauds Indian Railways’ Push for Solar Energy
Indian Railways posted on X that solar capacity increased 54x in the last 9 years and informed that the solar power capacity commissioned till March 2014 was 3.68 MW whereas during 2014-23, 200.31 MW were commissioned.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appreciated the strides made by the Indian Railways in the direction of the Net Zero Mission. He took to the micro-blogging platform to laud the efforts.
Indian Railways posted on X that solar capacity increased 54x in the last 9 years and informed that the solar power capacity commissioned till March 2014 was 3.68 MW whereas during 2014-23, 200.31 MW were commissioned.
Replying to the post, the Prime Minister wrote, "Shows commendable progress in our commitment towards a greener future. In just 9 years, we have enhanced our capacity significantly, taking significant strides towards #MissionNetZero Carbon Emission. Let us continue this journey, ensuring a brighter and sustainable tomorrow for India."
In a big move towards sustainability, the Indian Railways aims to reduce its carbon footprint to zero by making the entire railway network in India environmentally sustainable. Electrification, solar energy, energy efficiency and green stations are the major components of the railways’ net zero carbon emission mission.
Earlier this year, the Indian Railways announced its biggest solar plant at Bhilai, Chhattisgarh is now ready. Spread across 200 acres, the plant has 1,54,500 solar photovoltaic panels installed.
