Powerica Wins SECI’s 500 MW ISTS-Connected Wind Power Projects Auction
Powerica has won 50 MW at a tariff of INR 3.81/kWh in SECI’s auction for 500 MW ISTS-connected wind power projects (Tranche-XVII), emerging as the sole awardee after the tender’s provision reduced the eligible capacity to 96 MW.

Powerica has emerged as the sole winner in Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) auction to select 500 MW ISTS-connected wind power projects (Tranche-XVII). The company has won 50 MW at a tariff of INR 3.81/kWh.
The tender for this was floated in May 2024 and it received a lukewarm response with only two bidders – Powerica and Adyant Enersol bidding for a total of 120 MW in the technical bid round. While Powerica bid for 50 MW at INR 3.81/kWh, Adyant Enersol bid for 70 MW at INR 3.82/kWh.
As per a provision in the tender, if the bids received in the auction were less than the floated capacity of 500 MW, then only 80 percent of that quoted capacity will be eligible for the award. Hence, the total eligible capacity was reduced to 96 MW i.e. 80 percent of 120 MW.
As per the bucket filling method, Adyant Enersol was eligble for 46 MW but it was not awarded any capacity as the tender mandated a minimum project capacity of 50 MW.
The tender required the winning bidder to establish wind power projects and build the necessary transmission network to the interconnection point. Developers must secure land, install and own the project, and obtain connectivity and approvals. To minimise risks and ensure timely power supply, only commercially proven and operational technologies are allowed, with deployment limited to type-certified wind turbine models listed in the Revised List of Models and Manufacturers.
In October 2024, Juniper Green Energy, ACME Solar Holdings, and Sembcorp Green Infra won SECI’s auction to develop 600 MW of ISTS-connected wind-solar hybrid power projects (Tranche IX).
