POWERGRID Approves INR 341.57 Crore Investment in 2 Transmission Projects

Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has approved investments of INR 341.57 crore for two transmission projects, including power evacuation from Ratle and Kiru HEPs in Jammu and Kashmir, and capacity augmentation at Tumkur (Pavagada) pooling station in Karnataka.

Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has announced that the 'Committee of Directors on Investment on Projects' of POWERGRID has approved investments of about INR 341.57 crore in two transmission projects.

The first project ‘Transmission scheme for evacuation of power from Ratle HEP (850 MW) & Kiru HEP (624 MW): Part B’ will involve an investment of INR 177.38 crore for Part I and INR 41.17 Crore for Part II, totalling INR 218.55 Crore.

The project is scheduled to be commissioned by July 14, 2026 or matching with the transmission scheme for evacuation of power from Ratle HEP (850 MW) and Kiru HEP (624 MW): Part- A scheme whichever is later, the company shared in a regulatory filing.

The second project is for the augmentation of transformation capacity at Tumkur (Pavagada) 400/220kV Pooling Station in Karnataka. It involves adding 2x500 MVA, 400/220kV ICTs and a 220kV line bay at Tumkur (Pavagada) 400/220kV PS for providing connectivity to the renewable energy generation project.

The estimated cost of the second project is INR 123.02 crore. The project is scheduled to be commissioned by May 20, 2026.
