PowerChina Secures EPC Contract to Build 500 MW Wind Project in Saudi Arabia

PowerChina has bagged an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for developing the 500 MW Wa’ad Alshamal Wind Project in Saudi Arabia.
Power Construction Corporation of China, also known as PowerChina, was awarded the contract by a consortium led by Japanese group Marubeni Corporation in collaboration with Abdulaziz Alajlan Sons for Commercial & Real Estate Investment Company – Ajlan & Bros.
The 500 MW wind energy project is part of the Kingdom’s ‘Saudi Vision 2030’ objective to boost the country’s share of renewable energy resources to around 50 percent by 2030.
Earlier in May 2024, Marubeni Corporation signed the power purchase agreements (PPA) for the AlGhat Wind Project (600 MW) and Wa’ad Alshamal Wind Project (500 MW).
