Power Sector CPSUs Work on Multipronged Strategies to Ensure Employees Safety amidst Pandemic
The Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) under the Ministry of Power has been working out multipronged strategies for reaching out to every employee situated across the country and also to the neighbouring community amidst pandemic.

The Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) under the Ministry of Power has been working out multipronged strategies for reaching out to every employee situated across the country and also to the neighbouring community amidst pandemic.
The Ministry of Power in a statement said that, CPSUs have together set up isolation centres with oxygen facilities for their employees and their families at over 200 locations in areas with higher infection rate to cater to the needs of moderately infected persons. The move will help in reducing the load on the private and Government Health Care infrastructure.
The various measures taken by power CPSUs include - setting up Isolation centres, distribution of masks, sanitizers, providing Oxygen beds, organizing Vaccination camps at various location in the National Capital Region (NCR), providing oxygen concentrators for public, setting up oxygen plants, etc. The power CPSUs have also contributed about Rs 925 crore to PM-Cares Fund, the Power Ministry further said.
As per the Power Ministry, NHPC has been extending CSR support of Rs 41.89 lakh for setting up of an oxygen generation plant in Siddharth Nagar in Uttar Pradesh (UP). Besides, Rs 45 lakh has also being provided for 60 oxygen concentrators with 5 LPM Capacity for L-2 Covid facility in Deoria, UP. The company is also setting up an oxygen generation plant of 1000 LPM capacity with provision of filling cylinders in Govt Hospital in Faridabad. The procurement process has been initiated and shortly to be finalized, and the plant is expected to be installed within eight weeks.
Another CPSU, NTPC has placed orders for 11 oxygen generation plants in NCR, and 2 large oxygen generation plants having bottling facility. It will also set up oxygen generation plants at 8 different locations in other states besides extended support for installation of oxygen plants at different Government Hospitals in other States.
Similarly, REC Ltd has provided a financial assistance of Rs 2.21 crore towards the Installation of 1700 liters per minute oxygen generator plant and 150 kV generator plant at Dalvi Hospital, Pune. Besides, it had supported Government Medical College in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand which has been converted into a 300-bed Covid treatment center.
Further, RECL has supported in establishing oxygen generation plants at 7 locations, namely Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand; Base Hospital, Khagaria; District Hospital, Chatra; Hunterganj CHC, Chamba; Civil Hospital, Baran; District Hospital, Baran Mallapuram.
Meanwhile, PGCIL has been promoting setting up of oxygen plants at 2 locations i.e. Jaisalmer, Rajasthan of 50 Nm3 and Gurugram, Haryana of 2x50 Nm3.
