Union Power Secretary Alok Kumar inaugurated central robotic hard coating facility at Nathpa Jhakri hydropower station in Himachal Pradesh along with O&M workshop. The newly constructed facility is expected to repair and transport large parts of the power station which would not only reduce the maintenance time but also speed up the reclamation process of these parts.
With 1,500 MW capacity, SJVN's Nathpa Jhakri is India's largest underground hydropower project in operation since 2003-04. Last year, it set a record in the highest ever single day power generation. A high-velocity oxy-fuel hard coating facility has also been established at its project site.
Power Secretary Alok Kumar was accompanied by SJVN Chairman & Managing Director Nand Lal Sharma during his visit to Nathpa Jhakri hydropower station.
Apparently, he also visited SJVN's 412 MW Rampur hydropower station, 382 MW Sunni Dam hydro electric project and 210 MW Luhri hydro electric project in Himachal Pradesh where he commenced the concreting works at the powerhouse, main dam and flood protection wall. He also inaugurated 66/22 kV substation at Koyal.
Currently, two power stations of 1,912 MW capacity are being operated and four projects with a cumulative generation capacity of 1,624 MW are being executed by SJVN in the Satluj basin.
