Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (POWERGRID) has secured three key inter-state transmission system projects under Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB).
Awarded on a Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) basis, these projects aim to strengthen India’s power transmission infrastructure and facilitate renewable energy integration.
The first project involves the Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Phase V (Part-1: 4 GW) [Sirohi/Nagaur] Complex, which includes augmentation of transformation capacity at the under-construction Sirohi substation in Rajasthan and the development of 765kV double circuit (D/C) transmission lines spanning Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
The second project, Augmentation of Transformation Capacity at Banaskantha (Raghanesda) Power Station (GIS) in Gujarat, involves ICT augmentation at the existing power station, improving transmission reliability in the region.
The third project, Transmission System for Integration of Kurnool-IV REZ - Phase-I (for 4.5 GW), includes the establishment of a new 765/400/220kV Kurnool IV Pooling Sub-Station in Andhra Pradesh, augmentation of transformation capacity at the existing C’peta substation, and the construction of 765kV and 400kV D/C transmission lines across Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
These projects are critical to enhancing power transmission infrastructure, ensuring efficient renewable energy evacuation, and strengthening grid stability.
