Power Grid Procures Bid for 20 GW ISTS Project in Rajasthan
The setup of a new 765/400kV substation in Ramgarh that is complete with STATCOM technology is included in the project's scope.

State-run Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) announced that it has bagged the tariff-based competitive tendering to set-up a 20 GW inter-state transmission system (ISTS) project in Rajasthan.
The company officials stated, "...it is to inform that Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd has been declared as the successful bidder under tariff-based competitive bidding to establish an Inter-State Transmission System Project for evacuation of power from REZ in Rajasthan (20 GW) under Phase-III Part C1 on Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis".
The setup of a new 765/400kV substation in Ramgarh that is complete with STATCOM technology is included in the project's scope.
It also entails the expansion of bays at existing substations across Rajasthan along with the construction of a 765kV D/C transmission line.
Earlier, the other bid procured by the Power Grid Corporation of India involved a transmission project for a solar energy zone (SEZ) in Andhra Pradesh’s Ananthapuram (Anantapur) and Kurnool. The venture is anticipated to produce 3,500 MW of power with 1,000 MW in Kurnool and the rest in Ananthapuram.
