Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to dedicate the 300 MW Nokhra Solar Project of NTPC Green Energy Limited to the nation via video-conferencing.
Spanning across 1,550 acres in the Bikaner district of Rajasthan, the project, executed under the CPSU Scheme (Phase-II), represents an investment of INR 1,803 crores, aimed at providing green power to the state of Telangana.
Expected to generate 730 million Units per year, the Nokhra Solar Project is poised to illuminate over 1.3 lakh households while significantly curbing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by approximately 6 lakh tonnes annually. Over its projected lifespan of 25 years, the project aims to restrain CO2 emissions to a cumulative total of 15 million tonnes.
A testament to the Make in India initiative, the project boasts the installation of over 13 lakh solar PV modules, reinforcing the government's commitment to self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat).
NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC, is spearheading NTPC's Renewable Energy journey with an operational capacity of over 3.4 GW and 26 GW in the pipeline, including 7 GW under implementation. As NTPC actively pursues a 'just transition' towards clean energy, the Nokhra Solar Project is positioned to play a pivotal role in reducing carbon emissions, thereby contributing to a cleaner and sustainable energy future.
