Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of four significant projects developed by Torrent Power in Uttar Pradesh, marking a substantial investment of approximately INR 25,000 crore.
The foundation stone-laying ceremony for these projects took place during Ground-Breaking Ceremony (GBC) 4.0 of UP Global Investors' Summit, held in Lucknow.
These projects include the establishment of two pumped storage hydro projects in the Sonbhadra district, capable of generating a total capacity of 4.15 GW. Additionally, a 150 MW solar power plant in the Lalitpur district, situated in the Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh, signifies the commitment towards harnessing renewable energy sources.
Furthermore, an initiative was launched with a pilot green hydrogen production facility in Gorakhpur. This project aims to produce green hydrogen for blending with the natural gas distribution network being developed by Torrent Gas, making it one of the largest green hydrogen and natural gas blending projects in the country.
These initiatives are expected to have a transformative impact on the state's economy, creating employment opportunities for approximately 8,000 individuals, both directly and indirectly.
Torrent Group had previously signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Uttar Pradesh government for these projects during the UP Global Investors' Summit 2023.
The projects were inaugurated with the presence of Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
