Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated multiple projects valued at over INR 17,300 crores in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. Among the key highlights of the event was the launch of India's inaugural indigenous green hydrogen fuel cell inland waterway vessel under the Harit Nauka initiative.

Addressing the audience, PM Modi hailed the vessel as a testament to India's commitment to green technology and acknowledged it as a symbolic gift from the people of Tamil Nadu to Kashi. This innovative vessel, manufactured by Cochin Shipyard, marks a pioneering step towards embracing clean energy solutions and aligning with the nation's net-zero commitments.

During his speech, PM Modi expressed gratitude for the warm reception received during the Kashi Tamil Sangamam, emphasizing the enthusiasm and affection demonstrated by the people of Tamil Nadu. He underscored the significance of the projects inaugurated, particularly in positioning Tamil Nadu as a leader in adopting alternative energy sources.

The projects inaugurated by the Prime Minister also include initiatives aimed at transforming the V.O. Chidambaranar Port into the country's first Green Hydrogen Hub Port. These initiatives encompass the establishment of a desalination plant, hydrogen production facilities, and bunkering infrastructure.

In his remarks, PM Modi emphasized the pivotal role Tamil Nadu is poised to play in the global shift towards sustainable alternatives, stating, "Tamil Nadu will go a long way with regard to the alternatives that the world is exploring today."
