Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the much-anticipated India Energy Week 2024 in Goa, marking the commencement of India's largest and most comprehensive energy exhibition and conference. The event, which brings together key stakeholders from across the energy spectrum, aims to catalyze India's ambitious energy transition goals.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, PM Modi welcomed attendees to the second edition of India Energy Week, highlighting the vibrant spirit and natural beauty of Goa as an ideal backdrop for discussions on sustainable development and environmental sensitivity. He emphasized the significant strides India has made in its economic growth, with GDP rates surpassing global estimates and projections indicating a promising future trajectory. “Economic experts around the world believe that India will soon become the 3rd largest economy in the world”, he said.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi underscored India's pivotal role in the global energy landscape, noting its position as the world's third-largest consumer of energy, oil, and LPG, as well as a major importer and refiner of LNG. He highlighted the nation's burgeoning demand for electric vehicles and outlined plans to meet the doubling energy demand projected by 2045.
