The ISA, an initiative launched on November 30, 2015, by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron during COP21 in Paris, aims to accelerate the global adoption of solar energy to support climate action. With its headquarters in India, the ISA has successfully united numerous countries to tackle challenges related to technology, finance, and capacity for scaling up solar energy.
Under India's Presidency, the ISA has spearheaded various impactful projects worldwide, showcasing India's role in advancing sustainable energy. Notable initiatives include the solarization of Malawi's Parliamentary building, the installation of solar-powered healthcare centers in Fiji, the establishment of a solar-powered cold storage facility in Seychelles, and the deployment of solar PV rooftop systems in Kiribati.
Furthermore, the Alliance has facilitated technical training for experts from member countries to enhance their solar energy capabilities.
India's leadership within the ISA highlights its commitment to promoting sustainable energy solutions and environmental stewardship. Through technology transfer, capacity-building initiatives, and bilateral agreements, India continues to advocate for the global adoption of affordable and sustainable solar energy solutions.
The ISA serves as a crucial platform for international cooperation, bringing together nations in their collective efforts to combat climate change and transition towards clean energy sources on a global scale.
