Panasonic Energy and Mazda to Foray into Partnership for Supply of Automotive Cylindrical Lithium-ion Batteries

Both companies have a perspective toward Panasonic Energy delivering Mazda with automotive cylindrical lithium-ion batteries produced at Panasonic Energy’s plants in Japan and North America.

Panasonic Energy Co. Ltd. (Panasonic Energy) and Mazda Motor Corporation (Mazda) announce that to enter into a medium- to long-term partnership to fulfill the demand for battery EVs and automotive batteries in a swiftly moving market.

Panasonic Energy and Mazda have a perspective toward Panasonic Energy delivering Mazda with automotive cylindrical lithium-ion batteries produced at Panasonic Energy’s plants in Japan and North America, and Mazda installing batteries proceeded from Panasonic Energy in battery EVs scheduled to be introduced in the latter half of the 2020 decade.

Kazuo Tadanobu, President and CEO of Panasonic Energy added, “As the automotive industry rapidly advances electrification and is leading in this technology, collaboration with Mazda will be a major step toward the achievement of our mission of realizing a society in which the pursuit of happiness and a sustainable environment are harmonized.
