New Delhi-based Ornate Solar said that it has commissioned India’s largest building-integrated rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system in Bhagru, Rajasthan for Canada-based natural stone manufacturing company ‘Pangaea Natural Stone Inc’.

Also, this 530 kWp InRoof system had been kept under testing for 18 months before commercial deployment, and it is claimed to be the industry’s first universal structural solution that can integrate panels of any shape and size to replace conventional metal roofs.

Further, this Made in India InRoof system would help Pangaea in offsetting 18,346 tons of CO2 emissions from its newly constructed 35,000 sq. ft production facility.

Pangaea’s production facility integrated 1,175 Canadian Solar mono-PERC solar panels as the primary roof serving the dual purpose of generating energy and acting as an integrated roofing element, replacing trapezoidal sheets. It also uses MLPE micro inverters of Enphase Energy.

The indigenously developed InRoof structure consists of special-purpose roll formed continuous (SRFC) sections made from a high-strength steel alloy which are resistant to corrosion and oxidation.

Besides, anodised Aluminium profiles have been used to provide two-layer protection against water ingress and to distribute the static loads of the PV panels across the building purlins, it added.

Moreover, the building-integrated rooftop PV system can accommodate 26 per cent more Solar panels as compared to traditional roof-mounted systems and can generate more than 4-8 per cent more energy, due to free air circulation which lowers module Backsheet temperatures by upto 15 degrees celcius.

These solar InRoof systems can also be used for parking lots, canopies or facades.

Meanwhile, the company has been developing a plug-and-play version of the InRoof system for premium Residential households, which can be installed on terraces, verandahs and balconies. It is expected to be ready for commercial release in the Indian market by the end of this year.
