The Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) has initiated a tender process for the deployment of solar-powered boats at Chilika Lake.
The tender, open for submissions until January 30, invites bids from companies interested in providing solar boats designed to accommodate up to 20 passengers.
In addition to the provision of solar boats, the scope of the tender extends to cover operations and maintenance services for an initial period of two years.
The winning bidder is required to adhere to technical specifications outlined in SOW Clause 3.3.1.1, following IWT/IWAI rules. Furthermore, the successful bidder will be responsible for installing shore charging stations and a battery management system to ensure efficient boat operation.
The solar boats will undergo a series of tests and trials to assess various performance aspects, including speed, manoeuvrability, and endurance.
OREDA's initiative reflects a commitment to sustainable tourism and clean energy practices, as the solar-powered boats are set to operate with zero emissions.
By adopting these solar boats, OREDA aims to contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions and promote a healthier environment.
