Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has received a B- rating for its 2024 CDP thematic score on Climate. This achievement highlights ONGC's commitment to transparency in its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.
By strengthening its climate-related disclosures, ONGC continues to align with global best practices, driving notable progress toward a low-carbon and sustainable future. ONGC is part of 24,800+ organisations leveraging data to drive Earth-positive decisions.
ONGC’s disclosure data will be shared with key stakeholders, including CDP Capital Market Signatories, regulatory bodies, and strategic partners. Additionally, core climate data will be made available through the Net-Zero Data Public Utility (NZDPU) to facilitate broader industry-wide climate action.
In 2025, CDP will focus on enhancing the disclosure framework to provide greater stability for organisations while minimising changes to the questionnaire and scoring methodology. This will enable companies like ONGC to build on existing sustainability frameworks and implement robust transition plans. CDP is a global non-profit organisation that operates the world’s only independent environmental disclosure system, helping companies, capital markets, cities, states, and regions manage their environmental impacts.
In an era where environmental responsibility is integral to business success, data-driven transparency enables companies to transition from disclosure to action. CDP scores play a critical role in helping organisations navigate regulatory compliance and industry standards, manage climate risks, and identify sustainable opportunities. They also enhance business efficiency, foster innovation, and strengthen investor confidence and market resilience.
Historical trends indicate that companies demonstrating strong environmental transparency tend to outperform market peers, highlighting the long-term benefits of sustainability-driven strategies. As India’s largest energy company, ONGC is committed to integrating sustainability into its core operations. Climate-related data offers valuable insights into the economic impact of climate risks and extreme weather events, the effectiveness of sustainable business models, and the role of innovation in reducing environmental footprints.
