As part of the government’s ambitious push for solar energy expansion and a carbon-neutral economy, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is set to install rooftop solar panels at 16 campuses across 11 states.
Accordingly, CISF has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN), a subsidiary of state-owned NTPC Ltd., to install 3,281 kW of rooftop solar power capacity across these campuses. The project is slated for completion by October 31, 2025.
This initiative represents a major step toward promoting renewable energy and sustainability while aligning with the government’s vision of energy security and a greener future.
These proposed new installations will supplement the existing 1,990 kW solar capacity already deployed at four CISF campuses, namely RTC Arakkonam (Tamil Nadu), Mahipalpur Campus (Delhi), RTC Behror (Rajasthan), and 8th RB Jaipur (Rajasthan). Upon completion, the total installed solar power capacity across all CISF campuses will reach 5,271 kW.
The 16 campuses selected for the new installations include three in Uttar Pradesh, two each in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh, and one each in Bihar, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Gujarat, Odisha, and Telangana.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has tasked NVVN with executing the project under the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) model. Under this arrangement, NVVN will bear the capital expenditure for installation, operation, and maintenance, while CISF will pay a fixed tariff for the electricity generated over the 25-year agreement period.
