North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO), a 100 percent subsidiary of NTPC, inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

These hydro projects play a crucial role in furthering India's green energy targets, in line with the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) target.

The NDC aims to attain 500 GW of non-fossil power capacity by 2030. The hydro projects' contribution will be crucial in reducing the nation's carbon footprint and expediting the path toward attaining Net Zero carbon emissions by 2070.

Furthermore, with their environmental benefits, these hydro projects retain a pledge for the region's economic growth. The projects are anticipated to create a great number of employment opportunities, fostering the local economy and assisting skill development and technical expertise among the local population.

Through this MoA, NEEPCO and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh are set to alliance on a venture that not only taps the massive potential of hydroelectric power but also paves the path for a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable energy future for India.
