NTPC Renewable Energy Inks MoU with Indian Army to Establish Green Hydrogen Projects

The Indian Army, aligning vision with PANCHAMRIT and Carbon Neutral Ladakh, target to diminish the dependence on fossil fuel and their infrastructure for power production and heat.

NTPC Renewable Energy (NTPC REL) has inked an MoU with Indian Army for establishing Green Hydrogen Projects in its formulation of Build, Own and Operate (BOO) structure.

The main aim is to minimise complex engineering, dependence on fossil fuels and to accelerate decarbonization.

Various locations of Indian Army are supported through DG sets in remote and unaccessible locations. The Indian Army, aligning vision with PANCHAMRIT and Carbon Neutral Ladakh, aim to diminish the dependence on fossil fuel and their infrastructure for power production and heat.

NTPC REL will plan, evolve, and set up renewable energy projects (solar, wind etc.) and Hydrogen Energy Storage System in a step-by-step manner.

Under the scope of the MoU, a joint validation of prosective sites would be assumed for establishing of green hydrogen projects for transmitting electricity in a successive way .

NTPC through its wholly owned subsidiary NTPC Green Energy Limited and presently it has an operational profile of 3.6 GW renewable energy potential in the course of construction. NTPC Group has aspirational objective of reaching 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032 and in present scenario it has 3.2 GW of installed renewable energy potential.
