NTPC Renewable Energy (NTPC REL) has issued a call for bids pertaining to the acquisition of land and an Extra High Voltage (EHV) transmission system package for the development of Interstate Transmission System (ISTS)-connected solar power projects in Maharashtra.
The project aims to achieve a total capacity of up to 800 MW. Interested parties are invited to submit their bids by January 16, 2024, with the bid opening scheduled for the same day.
The land requirements for the proposed solar power project, situated in the Solapur region of Maharashtra, necessitate securing five acres per MW of either leasehold or freehold land.
Crucially, establishing independent access roads to the project boundary and potential interconnections between plots, whether through private means or in collaboration with state machinery, is a key stipulation.
To ensure the project's success, a comprehensive topography survey is mandated, including activities such as cutting or filling to maintain a 10 percent average slope across the solar project land. Geotechnical investigations will specifically focus on the transmission system for foundation design.
Security measures for the solar project include the installation of fencing with a minimum of two entry/exit gates and security cabins, excluding land related to the transmission line.
On the transmission system front, the scope of work involves establishing grid connectivity, designing and constructing the EHV transmission system up to the grid interconnection point, ensuring the 'Right of Way,' setting up a terminal bay, implementing a telemetry system, supplying necessary spares for the transmission line, and handling operation and maintenance for three years post-project commissioning.
Funding for this comprehensive package will be sourced from NTPC REL's internal resources or through borrowings. Prospective bidders are required to demonstrate significant experience in executing works for grid-connected solar projects/solar parks or wind projects/wind parks, with a cumulative capacity of 100 MW or higher.
Experience should cover tasks such as securing land for the project and obtaining technical feasibility approval for power evacuation through a state transmission utility or ISTS substation.
