NTPC, NREDCAP Form JV Company for Solar, Wind, PSP and Green Hydrogen Projects in Andhra Pradesh
NTPC Green Energy Ltd. (NGEL) has formed a 50:50 JV company with the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of AP Ltd (NREDCAP) - AP NGEL Harit Amrit Ltd., to develop 25 GW solar/wind, 10 GW pumped storage, and 0.5 MMTPA green hydrogen projects.

NTPC Green Energy has announced the formation of a 50:50 joint venture company – AP NGEL Harit Amrit Ltd., with New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd.
“AP NGEL Harit Amrit Ltd., a joint venture company of NTPC Green Energy Ltd., has been incorporated on February 6, 2025, as a 50:50 joint venture of NTPC Green Energy Ltd. (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC Ltd. and New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd., a Government of Andhra Pradesh Undertaking,” shared NGEL in a regulatory filing.
The JV will be exploring the development of renewable energy projects comprising solar/wind/hybrid with or without storage up to 25 GW capacities. It will also be working on the production of green hydrogen to the tune of 0.5 MMTPA and green derivatives (green ammonia/green methanol etc.) through a suitable mode.
The JV will also develop pump hydro projects up to 10 GW capacity as per the identified locations in the state.
NGEL has subscribed 50,000 equity shares at the face value of INR 10 each.
Last month, NGEL and Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (RVUNL) formed NTPC Rajasthan Green Energy Ltd., a 74:26 joint venture to develop up to 25 GW renewable energy projects and green hydrogen projects up to 1 million tonne capacities in Rajasthan.
In January 2025, NTPC Green Energy Ltd. (NGEL) and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd. (UPRVUNL) announced the formation of a joint venture, NTPC UP Green Energy Ltd., to develop, operate, and maintain renewable energy parks and projects.
In a similar move, in November 2024, NTPC Green Energy formed a 50:50 joint venture with Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Ltd. (MAHAGENCO). The JV entity will develop, operate and maintain renewable energy parks in Maharashtra.
