NTPC Invites Bids for Pilot BESS Project at NTPC Dadri Thermal Power Plant in Uttar Pradesh

NTPC Ltd. has issued a tender for a pilot project for proof of concept for DG replacement with battery energy storage systems (BESS) at NTPC’s Dadri Thermal Power Plant in Uttar Pradesh. Bid submission ends on February 10, 2025.

NTPC Ltd. has floated a tender for a pilot project for proof of concept for DG replacement with battery energy storage systems (BESS) at NTPC’s Dadri Thermal Power Plant in Uttar Pradesh.

The scope of work includes design, engineering, procurement, fabrication, supply, packing, loading, forwarding, transportation, unloading, storage, preservation, freight, insurance, clearances, custom or any other duty, construction, erection, commissioning, shop, field quality tests and PG test of proposed facilities in the pilot project for proof of concept for DG replacement with BESS in NTPC Dadri Stage-l.

The project needs to be completed in 365 days. The bidders must offer a comprehensive annual maintenance contract (CAMC) of BESS for a period of 10 years.

The bidders need to pay INR 4,500 as a tender fee. They also need to furnish INR 10 lakh as an earnest money deposit (EMD).

Interested bidders can seek clarification till January 22, 2025. The submission of bids will start from January 30, 2025. The last date for submission of bids is February 10, 2025. The techno-commercial bids will be opened on February 11, 2025.  

The tender document specifies that Class-I local suppliers and Class-II local suppliers only are eligible to participate.

The bidder must have designed, engineered, manufactured/got manufactured, erected/got erected, commissioned/supervised commissioning grid-interactive Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) of cumulative installed capacity of minimum 2000 kWh in one or maximum 5 orders during the last 10 years.

At least one such reference project, having at least 700 kWh capacity should be in successful operation for at least 6 months prior to the date of techno-commercial bid opening. And, this reference project must be at a single location developed for the bidder itself or any other client.

Alternatively, the bidder should have executed projects in the last 10 years as an EPC contractor in the area of Battery Energy Storage projects/Solar PV projects (Ground-mounted/Rooftop/Floating)/Wind Power projects or a combination, of a value of INR 5.61 crore or more in a single project or single work and the same must be in successful operation for at least 6 months prior to the date of techno-commercial bid opening.

As for financial eligibility, the average annual turnover of the bidder, in the preceding 3 financial years as on the date of techno-commercial bid opening, must not be less than INR 7.01 crore or in equivalent foreign currency.

The net worth of the bidder as on the last day of the preceding financial year should not be less than 100 percent of the bidder's paid-up share capital.
