NTPC Group Surpasses 400 BU Milestone in Electricity Generation

NTPC Group, India's largest integrated power utility, achieved a milestone by surpassing the mark of 400 Billion Units (BU) of total electricity generation in the current financial year.
The achievement was marked on March 13, 2024, showcasing the company's formidable performance in the power sector. This accomplishment comes on the heels of the company's generation of 399.3 BU during the previous financial year (FY 2022-23).
The achievement was made possible with an average Plant Loading Factor (PLF) of 77.06 percent for NTPC’s coal stations, highlighting the efficiency and effectiveness of its operations.
The company's commitment to excellence was further highlighted by its recording of the highest ever single-day power generation of 1,428 Million Units on September 1, 2023. This remarkable feat stands as a testament to the expertise of NTPC engineers and the robustness of its operation and maintenance practices and systems.

Despite its already substantial installed power capacity of 75.4 GW, NTPC is actively expanding its capabilities, with 18 GW capacity, including 5 GW of renewables, currently under construction. The company has set its sights on achieving 60 GW of Renewable Energy capacity by the year 2032, as part of its broader commitment to sustainability and clean energy.
In addition to its core power generation activities, NTPC has diversified into various new business areas, including e-mobility, Waste-to-Energy, and Green Hydrogen solutions. The company has also participated in the bidding process for power distribution in Union Territories, demonstrating its agility and adaptability in evolving market landscapes.
