NTPC has achieved recognition for its exceptional water management practices. It has moved up two levels in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Water Security Rating. The company's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Score, previously rated 'D' in 2022, has now been elevated to a 'C' rating in 2023.
NTPC's efforts to bolster water reuse and recycling initiatives have yielded tangible results, evident in a notable reduction in specific water consumption over recent years. Despite encountering challenges posed by the integration of renewable energy sources and the implementation of wet flue gas desulfurization systems, NTPC has proactively implemented innovative measures and adopted efficient practices to curtail water consumption.
