NLC India Inks JV Agreements with RVUNL for Thermal and RE Projects in Rajasthan

NLC India has announced two joint venture agreements with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd. (RVUNL) to develop 2,000 MW of renewable energy and set up a 3x125 MW lignite-based thermal power station in Rajasthan.

State-owned NLC India Ltd. (NLCIL) has recently announced that it has signed two joint venture (JV) agreements with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd. (RVUNL).

The first JV is signed between NLC India Renewables Ltd. (NIRL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NLCIL, and RVUNL for developing 2000 MW of renewable power projects in the state of Rajasthan.

The second JV is between NLCIL and RVUNL for setting up of 3x125 MW Lignite-based thermal power station in Rajasthan and to develop the mines to meet the fuel requirement of the thermal power station.

“With the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for energy security with sustainable energy generation under the guidance of Union Minister of Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy and Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey, and in line with corporate plan for aggressive capacity addition, NLC India Ltd has entered into Joint Venture Agreements for formation of two significant Joint Ventures (JVs) with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL),” the company informed in a statement.

The JV agreements were signed by Director (Finance), NLCIL Dr. Prasanna Kumar Acharya and CMD, RRVUNL, Devendra Shringi. In both the Joint Ventures (JVs), NLCIL will hold a 74 percent equity stake, while RRVUNL will hold 26 percent. These JVs mark a significant step towards advancing sustainable energy and power generation.
