Australia’s leading EV producer and supplier Nexport has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Splend to supply 3,000 BYD electric vehicles (EV), ahead of the latter’s expansion plans with the zero-emissions fleet.

To date, the Nexport-Splend comprehensive agreement is Australia’s largest singular electric vehicle order.

London-headquartered tech-enabled vehicle subscription provider, Splend provides eco-friendly and affordable cars to on-demand drivers. Founded by Chris King in Sydney in 2015, it is Australia & the United Kingdom’s largest operator of flexible vehicle subscription and ownership plans with a focus on the on-demand rideshare and delivery app segments.

Nexport is BYD’s official partner for Australia and New Zealand. In February 2021, Nexport had entered into an exclusive distribution deal with BYD for the supply of EVs in Australia and other right hand drive markets.

BYD has become a key global OEM having sold more than 180,000 pure-electric passenger vehicles last year.

Further, Nexport has intended to release the new range of BYD electric passenger and commercial vehicles from mid 2021 with starting price from AUD 35,000.

As per the MoU, Nexport will deliver electric vehicles to Splend for its Australian and UK operations over the next 2 years starting in early 2022.

Moreover, Splend will also be engaged by Nexport to provide a new and innovative form of demonstrator vehicle service for new BYD car buyers.
