National Grid Expanding with Rising Power Demand: Union Minister

The targets and actual power lines (220kV and above) for each year were disclosed, showcasing the commitment to continuous expansion of the National Electricity Grid.

In response to increasing electricity demand and expanding generation capacity, the Union Minister for Power and New and Renewable Energy, R.K. Singh, provided a detailed overview of the country's transmission line achievements over the last five years. 

The targets and actual power lines (220kV and above) for each year were disclosed, showcasing the commitment to continuous expansion of the National Electricity Grid. 

As of October 2023, the National Grid boasts an installed Renewable Energy capacity of 179 GW, encompassing solar, hydro, wind, biomass, and other sources. 

Minister Singh affirmed that the National Grid is fully equipped to accommodate the existing Renewable Energy capacity. This update was conveyed in a written reply during a session in the Rajya Sabha on December 5.
