MUNPL Embarks on Major Expansion in India's Power Sector

The company reported revenues of INR 3,800 crore for the fiscal year 2022-2023 and aims to reach INR 4,500 crore in the next fiscal year.

MUNPL, led by NTPC and UPRVUNL, is poised for a significant expansion in Uttar Pradesh, with plans to add 5,600 MW of capacity to meet India's growing electricity demand, as highlighted by MUNPL CEO Sunil Kumar in an interview.
 
The company reported revenues of  INR 3,800 crore for the fiscal year 2022-2023 and aims to reach INR 4,500 crore in the next fiscal year. MUNPL's units began commercial generation in 2019 and 2021.
 
The company plans to expand by setting up additional units in various locations in Uttar Pradesh, with the goal of increasing capacity to meet rising electricity demand.
 
To address environmental concerns, MUNPL adheres to ESG norms, utilizes advanced super-critical technology, and is exploring environmentally friendly initiatives, including the use of air-cooled condensers and solar power generation. They are also looking into innovative applications of fly ash in construction and agriculture.
 
MUNPL prioritizes corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, investing over INR 30 crore in community and biodiversity conservation over the past decade. They plan to allocate  INR 3-4 crore annually for CSR activities starting from this fiscal year, emphasizing the welfare of stakeholders and the development of affected villages.
